A warm summer night in July, in the center of Madrid, Spain, we met for the first time with La Quince to plan the upcoming co-brew of Columbus and Vasa between them and Eskilstuna Ölkultur. In proper Spanish fashion, the meeting took place at 11 pm in a bar exclusively dedicated to handcrafted beer – Madriz Hop Republic. As soon as we arrived we were handed a glass of La Quince’s newest potion; Hørny Pilsner. It was love at first taste! The rest of the night we spent drinking much more Hørny Pilsner, talking about everything but politics, and concocting a plan for how we could license brew it in Sweden. When Eskilstuna Ölkultur a couple of days later met with La Quince in San Sebastian for the first time they were also handed a Hørny Pilsner … the rest is history.
In the Swedish market Hørny Pilsner is known under a different name – Høppy Pilsner. Reliable sources have told us that Hørny Pilsner was censored simply for being too hot and hoppy.
The design and artwork of the label was made by Pablo Pulgar; uncensoring the censored!
